Love like

Ice cream and jelly
Vanilla and strawberry
Soothing and sweet
Giving rise to voice
In the aftermath
Silenced

Thousands of times
Imagined the delight
Touching to lips
But only on occasion
Moderation

Comfort food
Not only sugar hit
Telling me
You are worthy
Strengthening

Lashings of frosty cream
Red jellyness a dream
Given to patience
For inner healing
Like me

Steer ashore

Fear grips tightly
At the helm
Taking over orders
Pulling us in

Over our heads
Waves crashing
Broached to
Shoal approaching

No lives lost
Crew is down
Handing over
Dogs to morning

Rolling like a lullaby
Reassuring
Raised a lighthouse
First sighting

Pinnacle gives way
To coast
Welcome faces
Twirling smoke

Casting lines
Shorebound stagger
Every sight new
Intricate beauty

Island delights
Happen upon flower
Resiliently tender
Heart own power

Fear of the storm
All but gone
Only shaking hands
Wide eyed one

Never leaving
Smiles receding
As night creeps in
Farewell again

Handing over everything
Knowing no direction
Trusting wholly
In you

It’s a sign

How did she fly in
Through my window
To land on my thigh
Barely noticed

Seems strange when
Smallest sight
Feels like a sign
Unseen eye

Telling me what's ahead?
Pay attention
Obey all warmings
Flash flooding

Inevitable river edge
Fear of falling
Highly possible
On precipice

Open out your covering
Protecting you
Unfurl invisible wings
To fly

Catch my drift?
To the untrained eye
Life is random chance
Though happy coincidence
You and I

Foxhole

Crouched in the dark
Too wired to sleep
Scratching out words
By dim candlelight

Writing to believe
This thing called love
Is real and true
When at first sight

Never knowing
Cares for plight
Thinks of them all
Under starry night

Will ever read
Or make reply
Moved on too quickly
Or said goodbye

Better to never
Know the truth
When belief in love
Is keeping alive

Ruffled

Pure delight
Little fingers find
Feathery treasure
Waving its finery

We shed parts
Of ourselves
For friends keep
To admire

In sharing
They grow
Lighter
Fly higher

Lament
Those of us
Left behind

Love like

A homing pidgeon
Taking away
To far off places
Letting go
Watching, waiting
Every day
Hoping praying
She'll come home
When she does
Cheers of joy
The sound of
Two wings flapping
White spread feathers
Fantails
Always wondering -
If she flies
In own direction
Wondering whether
She'll be alright
This night

Soft landing

Landing softly on my feet
After jumping
Off a cliff
In the dark
Claws out
Behind me

A sparrow turns
Says to me
This I do
Frequently

Pecking up seed
Nature cared
To scatter
Just for me

Eyeing another
Diving so flippantly
Decided to free fall
In her slip stream

A warm blanket of air
Covers over my landing
Softly swiftly
With ease

Re-member

When we are falling
Apart
We need someone to
Remember
Who we were when
Younger
Taller
Darker
Slender

Putting back together
Pieces
Of our bodies and how we
Connect
In our own story, chosen
Family

Those people who inspire
Courage
Surround yourself with
Love

The day is all we've got
Whether apart or
Together

Who you know

The nature of us all
Interwined betwixt
Soil like black gold
Sky liquid silk

Hidden stories told
Under soled feet
Rubber hits the road
Dreams and days meet

A secret underground
Threads tie us all
Telling tales of
Magnificent scale

Beauty so minute
Rare mysterious
No telling where
It wanders

Growing silently
Inside me
Just below
The surface

Waiting patiently
To arise
Tentative to touch
Hesitant to taste

A glorious surprise
If arrived
Just in time
For me
