Love like

A homing pidgeon
Taking away
To far off places
Letting go
Watching, waiting
Every day
Hoping praying
She'll come home
When she does
Cheers of joy
The sound of
Two wings flapping
White spread feathers
Fantails
Always wondering -
If she flies
In own direction
Wondering whether
She'll be alright
This night

Soft landing

Landing softly on my feet
After jumping
Off a cliff
In the dark
Claws out
Behind me

A sparrow turns
Says to me
This I do
Frequently

Pecking up seed
Nature cared
To scatter
Just for me

Eyeing another
Diving so flippantly
Decided to free fall
In her slip stream

A warm blanket of air
Covers over my landing
Softly swiftly
With ease

Who you know

The nature of us all
Interwined betwixt
Soil like black gold
Sky liquid silk

Hidden stories told
Under soled feet
Rubber hits the road
Dreams and days meet

A secret underground
Threads tie us all
Telling tales of
Magnificent scale

Beauty so minute
Rare mysterious
No telling where
It wanders

Growing silently
Inside me
Just below
The surface

Waiting patiently
To arise
Tentative to touch
Hesitant to taste

A glorious surprise
If arrived
Just in time
For me

Elemental

A warm igloo
In frozen tundra

A shady oasis
In desert down under

A cool clear pool
On white hot sands

A fresh trout stream
On vast open lands

A ripe berry vine
In dry scrub bush

A quiet space
In mid city rush

Elemental forces
We cannot contain

She comes to me
Like a forest fire

Cleansing opening
Ingiting on the breeze

Spreading seeds
Clearing debris

What holds us fast
From inevitable pain

We search seemingly
Aimlessly

It is always there
Hiding plain sight

A thrilling dare
To make it known

Love is never
In vain
Bellerive foreshore, nipaluna/ Hobart, lutruwita/ Tasmania

In week of want

In week of want
She fell
Barely breathing
Soft down

Mother beaten
By quoll creeping
By midnight
Took her all

Plucked up
Tucked inside
The crevice of
My cleavage

Feeling beats
Smelling skin
Plucking courage
To cuddle in

Come by night
Settle in
On straw
Under lamp light

By morn I woke
She lay still
Crushed by
Weight of
Loneliness

Sometimes
Only hearing
Beats feeling
Spark of love
Healing

None else
Can be
Our light

Airs and Graces

Inspire
Expire
She moves on air
Vanishing
Deflating

When I first woke
From the nightmare
The cold sweat
Refreshing

All I'd claimed in me
Reappeared
Instantaneously
Writing profusely

My claim to fame
Spoke, wore, dared
Ignition broke
Driver beware

Ditched high hopes
Road to nowhere
Retreated inside
Capacious bare

Only to cling to
Fortunate words
Mythical poems
Senses and nerves

Prove them right
I lose myself
Prove them wrong
Push away

Yeast rising
Hot air
Proves
Daily bread

Every other voice
Chimes in
Beautifully
But only one
Cures gracefully

Sitting pretty
Perched above
Harbour views
Self-soothe

Record player
Of youth
Going roundabout
She is all and all

The girl on the corner
Flipping the bird
Tough time town
Take my word

Tears spilled always
Losing another
Cast away
Girl Friday

No long play
Nor single
Sings the lyrics
I wish to say

Fingers touch
Words into being
Never having
Your own
Living
Breathing
In love
Harbour views, nipaluna/ Hobart, lutruwita/ Tasmania

Lightly lightly

Before I dare
Open my eyes
Stirrings peep
On the breeze
In the trees
On the window sill
Telling me this
Is a new day
Fills my head
With past present
And future
They fly in lighty
Rest divinely
On the edge
Of the fountain
Dart to nearby
Branches
Lofty places
Flying freely
All around me
They are always
With me

May Queen

Ever since when
Tucked inside
Safe harbour
Tending to
All her needs
When onlookers
Admire her wisdom
Sweat and tears
Protected for
The power
Of her beauty
All these years
May Queen alongside Hobart Wharf, lutruwita/ Tasmania
