Whether awake or asleep
A parallel reality
Woven from memory
Laced with dreams
Evades my spaces
Empty rooms
With music
On repeat
Behind closed eyes
Her face reminds me
Promises only keep
When stored safely
Entertaining
All kinds of things
Foreseeable future
Down by the sea
Takes my willing heart
On much needed holiday
While planting seeds
To grow all around me

Ethical nature
To draw one out
Protect from predators
When they hide
On the inside
Under rocks
Not out open
How easy to mistake
To mimic a threat
For safety
But scare away
Own mate
Funny how I know
When I decide to
Stop chasing
With words
That'll be the day
You turn around
In the heavy silence
Between us
Where only smiles
Are found

Tell her that you love her
If not with words
Any other thing
Without a doubt
Most important
Need to know
Life or death
By an inch
Holding one
Away from cliff
Sudden drop away
To vast ocean
Of loneliness
Tell her simply
For vast open sky
Meets horizon
High and deep
Where love consumes
Our solitude
We float away
To worlds unknown
Forever

All done through the night
Holding on to the next
Wondering aimlessly
Hoping for return
Falling softly
Blossoms surround
Lift my face
Above them all
How to prevent
Idea of you
Growing so tall
Looking into you

A multiverse grows
Out and beyond
Over and within
Unexplainable
To the naked eye
One only sees a light
A smile a look
A gracious word or two
The only way I know
How to love you
Is in spacious place
Wide open spaces
Long learnings ago
I hoped for one
To explore the cavern
Find the open door
My mind is endlessly
Travelling back forth
But pinpoints perfectly
On one such as yourself

'Ruin hath taught me thus to ruminate,
That Time will come and take my love away.
This thought is as a death, which cannot choose
But weep to have that which it fears to lose'
~ Shakespeare Sonnet 64

A cocoon
Urging me
I have all
I need
Spinning round
Intimately
Fine silk
Weaving
Remaking
Every cell
To offer
Freedom

I dedicate my writings
Dear Fanny Cochrane Smith
I lived upon her land
Learned what gratitude is
It healed my very wounded
Heart, spirit, mind
So I wish to return
To all of her kind

Is clear there's something
Between us
That which keeps us apart
Holds us together
Rather than deter
It makes me want
You more
The image I portray
Is simply a gentle fear
That if it were to disappear
Our love would fade away
