Christmas miracles

Each year I gift myself
A new year calendar
Full of native flora
From my chosen homeland
To tempt myself
To go out and explore
To fill each day
An unwritten space
With wonder

A plastic Christmas tree
Or ailing pine struck
From side of road
Does nothing for me
Summer draws you out to
Parade through tracks
Winding into hidden
Vales to find
Berries and blossoms
Winged creatures calling
You into the forest
A place of miracles
Magical moments

Passing rain

There is a noble price to pay
For precious moments
Caught unawares each day.
Smiles invade consternation
On work, or other nonsensical plays.
Crawling through choked traffic
Over bridge, no harbour view
Through iron bar fence.
Number plates and brake lights
A flash of beams behind.
A song on the radio
One you might love.
Suddenly, eyes clear
Beaming as broadly
As white clouds over mountain
In front of me.
For all such moments night and day
I carry the cost of knowing
Thousands of smiles can turn
Unexpectedly
Like sun's rays carried away by clouds
Instantaneously, a shower
Pouring down
On my face

Weather with you

Some loves are like a sea
salty touch chill to the skin
blissful diving in
on the fringe waves of grief
crash upon disheveled shores
tumbling in weeds
flotsam and jetsam

Some loves are a range
of mountains and hills
traverse through blinding
snow and wind
sudden change
dappled sun kisses
closed eyes before
hides behind peaks
searching caves within

Some loves are like a cloud
begging me - look up!
enamored by the majesty
of sky mirrored by our
smiles and glances
once dark and stormy sea
takes on new beauty
because of thee

Terra forma

Give me a solid rock to cling to
I will not stray from
Its foundation
Build a home upon
Its firm terrace
Until then I float
Downstream
Looking upwards
To the sky
Taking turbulent rapids
With courage
Until I land on river bend
Becoming a platform
For those sinking
Downnstream
To cling to
View from kunanyi

Sunset glow

We gift one another
Ample breathing space
To stretch the heavens
And earth between
Our waists
To render our thorn
Incapable of harm
Life as eternal summer
Soft shadow of looks
Cast behind us
Carry the weight
Of expectations
Where does your caravan
Take you, chasing sunsets?
In our sundowning years
Will we hold on
Till each a feather?
Strength yours to mine
Tussling fine fair heads
Offspring of better dreams
Each day carefully measured
From blink to downy rest
Smiles spark inhaling
Lines of chatter
Cascading like glitter
Observe the many watchful ways
I notice your sunlight
From within
Bask in it
