About aperture

Living on the island state of Tasmania, Australia. Narrating life through poetry and photography.

Love like

A mirror
Can't bear to
Open my eyes
Under covers
Hide

Alter reality
Two dimensional
Altar ego responds
Completely to me
Yet every touch
Cold

Do I need to
Be like you
To like you
Like I do?
I do

Loving me
Means
Loving you
Is it a crime to?

All the shades
Of blue reflect
To infinity
With you
River Derwent, lutruwita/ Tasmania Australia.

Woman

Woman, when you believe
My story and my song
No word or note
Need emanate again
You nod resignation
Soothe cracked lips
Silence creeps in
Swiftly by morning
No badge of bravery
Be worn out and down
I am changeable
As the tide
In ancient forests
You heal me
As I lie in wait
For another dawn song
Settling within
To begin again
Peppercorn tree, Coal River Valley Tasmania

Walls

Wartburg, Germany
The highest place is found
Not in turrets overlooking
In case of enemy approaching
Watching people scrambling

Over walls and hedges
Keeping us and them
Out and in, tethered
Away to stay, forever

No need to hide when
Love is measured by
Lesser distance between
Community is all around

Distance is never felt
Between two willing
Hearts that measure
No one or thing
Without love

Love like

A new puppy
A longing overcomes
Subtly over time
Then suddenly undone

Sleepless nights
Frequent walks
Accidental strife
Adorable, warm

A love not chosen
Like a spell cast
Wooing bright eyes
Mesmerised at last

I'll walk my love
Down every street
Doggy park
Beach retreat

Nodding at fellow
Lovers off leash
Tied to feelings
Unfathomable

Feeling responsible
For daily care
Falling asleep
Nestled in there

Such is the way
Of owning your own
In love with you
Who knew?
