Come and gone
Timestamped memory
Fagus leaf fallen
A longing for reunion
That may never come
New leaf limb display
A boundary laid
Come summer -
A channel crossing
One I aspire to
In my lifetime
Though shifting sands
Will change arrival
To friendlier shores
I gazed too long
Upon you
As perfection
Absorbing
All your weaknesses
As my own

Evaporate
With nothing left
To grasp
But unrealised
Fantasy world
Hidden behind
Closed eyes
We connect
Tread over my own
Footsteps way back
Discerning size and shape
Tread, big, little,
Human, bird, dog
These sands hold memories
A lifetime of growing up
Scenes I can only imagine
Fringe of highways
Byways iridescent green
Shrouded in bird twits
Pinging through drone
Of rubber on road
So too, contentment
Seeps into my bones
Like a syncopated spring
Soaking of rain
I glow
Quirky quips, tips and flirts
Bounce from my lips
I know
There is only one
Way to go
Just when I vow to never
Wish nor want anything
Ever again
Tell tears never to fall
Shake fears like raindrops
Head clearing, smiles lift
Clouds part only a bit
Cruising slow over bridge
Home run, day's done
Suddenly hear her name
Simmer
In my ears
If every economist
Fell in love with
An ecologist
Gave birth to
A humanist
What a place
This would be
An uggboot
Toe wriggling soft
Warm as spring
Rays of sun
Casting rainbows
All around us
A three part song
Fumbling along
Only each other
To lean on
That which I deeply
Wish to know
Would surely
Break my heart
Do not let the blizzard
Keep you locked away
Inside, unawares
Of whether the weather
Will change
When you could set sail
For smooth waters
You're better to be
Chasing rainbows
Count the stars of heaven
