Photographing Nature | Nicely

Provenance

I wandered aimlessly
From camp
Collecting kindling
For my kin
Surveying burnt out
Trunks of old memories
Till one day sun
Illuminated
A fresh young patch
Tender mouths open
To the sky
Nestled inside
A hallowed stump
I pondered upon
Their origin
Flying in on breeze

Lineage significant
In world of humans
While evolution of
Plants and animals
Takes centuries
We people are adept
At changing
So frequently
Sometimes in just
One moment
From mate to prey

Never erased

Tears spilled
Into ink well
Until overflowed
Onto blank page
Of future days
Now never erased

If I'd begged
Bowed down to power
Where would I be now?
Holding the broken limbs
Of my worn out pride
Barely alive
