Pull

Strongest of morning
Nestled in pure silence
Gravitas draws down
Most poignant moment
Into my coffee cup
I dwell
Steamy thoughts fill
My nose, eyes, throat
Ravenous groan
Deep in cavernous want
Mind lifts up
Sun reddening stoic
Organ pipes above
A herald echoes
In conscious moment
Pulling me to wake
From cosy slumber
Of longing
Bivouac Bay, Tasman National Park, Tasmania

In my own skin

Layers as filo pastry
Deliciously warmed
Under the same sun
Peel away while sleeping
New versions of ourselves
Quietly revealing
Still the same old, same old
Heaving, breathing
Precious burst illuminating
Memories slink across my face
In diamond cut wrinkles
Glitter all over the place
Sunset at Fortescue Beach, Tasmania

Waking dream

Call of the waves
Brought me to this place
A pace of feet among the leaves
Different to cacophonic city streets
A humble blue Bumble bee
Sets down, curious, next to me
The out breath longer than the in
Around here
Sand between toes
Sweat beading on lips, chin and nose
Crickets sing in time with the breath
Or is it me
Stand tall posture
Like a tree
Ignore the planes roar above
Accept all that is
Between the earth, sky and sea

Heart berry

Hidden among limbs clothed
In green velvet gowns
Dripping in accoutrements
Of fernage, of fungi

A trickle gapens wide
To underground flow hastily
Growing in karst caves
Miles long - race to river shores

Ancient faces, bearded features
Embedded in sapling lined hill
Look up to pinnacle source
Drink liquor distilled by leaves

Minutiae of life abounds
Hiding from hurried eyes
Passing giant foot too blind
- by black shapes bound to hand and wrist -
To see them thrive

Once the orchid eye is in
Become a clumsy giant
Clambering in, too easily
Destroying tender offspring

Sprinkling pathogens from soles
Wiping out whole colonies
After a solitary visit
Gaping mouthed outsider capturing souls in images

Thinking of this and parallels
The heart propagates compassion
It dangles on new vine
White heart berry ripening in time
