All the pretty shiny
People I collected
Never do well as
A trophy on the shelf
Letting go the fragile
Outer homes we grew
While tossed about
Turbulent ocean
Desist the breaking tide
Bay of quiet captures
Wide eyed ones
Hoping to close them
For a while
With great fanfare
Won't you?
Life no longer
Violet crumble
In my hands
If only
Sweet honeycomb
Chocolate mess
Ask me over
After work
Take the ticket
To the show
Now state walls
Not a giant mask
Anymore
Storm blows over
World conjures another
Ask me again
For someone to hold
Fake tears fall
From tiny bottle
Until real ones come
Dancing in waves
Clifftop winds
Faeries on parade
While I trip down
Sandstone path
To the place where
Minutiae of death
Washes ashore
In shells and stones
A place where love lived
A childhood once before
We leave
And let leave
All the ones
We ever loved
We cannot keep
So let them sail
Out past horizon
On winds of change
And do the same
Horizon begs me to come
Envious of all other
Lines I draw in my life
Its endless encore
Whispered in the waves
Come to me
I'll save you
Come and gone
Timestamped memory
Fagus leaf fallen
A longing for reunion
That may never come
New leaf limb display
A boundary laid
Come summer -
A channel crossing
One I aspire to
In my lifetime
Though shifting sands
Will change arrival
To friendlier shores
We connect
Tread over my own
Footsteps way back
Discerning size and shape
Tread, big, little,
Human, bird, dog
These sands hold memories
A lifetime of growing up
Scenes I can only imagine
That which I deeply
Wish to know
Would surely
Break my heart
