Heavenly bodies

Vast and free twirling round

gazing down on a breadth of seas

For ancients’ sake boulders quake

and spread their plume and fume

in pillows of magnetic blue.

All this time we knew you

a firm sphere of life

revolution all around you

and yet it is not all

who tremble as you shake,

lie in your wake.

We’re one and all reliant on

the One source.

These heavenly bodies

are not far from it.

Constancy in our distance,

we stay our path, in safety.

No freedom flier

but remain, obey, rely.

One solstice past

orbits merged

an emergency flight path.

We cannot wish to undo

or change our place

for all order that surrounds

and lies floating in chaotic wait

will unleash their quiet laden weight.

Best to gaze on star’s light from afar.

Hidden deep

While brothers and sisters were engaged

in a turf war on a global scale

A cold front, hardened, caught adrift

Floats away without mainsail

The emptiness perturbed them

As far as the eye could see

But watchful for horizon

Warmer shores come expectantly

But, little do they know how

a hot sea current can act

Upon their frozen precipice

They have escaped the simple fact

For underneath the narrow tip

the sea sick clambering, cling

A hull full of dangerous cargo

in the underbelly bring

All baggage, loot and baffles-full

of stowaways, bilge and gas

No room for living passengers

Just a burly lump of mass

The lot on top think handsomely

of their talent at nautical stuff

But from Captain down to Seamen

They’re playing blind man’s bluff

While many heard their tale

of floating like sea birds

Many passing ships do fear

The invisible iceberg.

Iceberg

Pre-loved. Re-purposed.

Fleeting, fragile / Hand made clay / vessel overflowing / temporal decay

I’ve laid bare all the fault lines

The cracks in the glaze

Dents of time, shards re-assembled

Re-fired, hand painted and saved.

From far away each seems whole

The fault lines form

An intricate filagree pattern

As if from an Artists’ hand.

Closer seen weakness revealed

No longer a pedastal piece in museum

A working vessel, much used and loved

Content seeps out slowly, replenished from above.

We are often asked if we can refire a broken pot or a statue and make it “perfect” again. A potter simply cannot refire a pot and make it whole again. (Source)
